A band wider than 6 mm sits tighter on the finger — go up one Indian size. If you fall between two sizes, choose the larger one.

Lengths are the full chain measured end to end, clasp included. Layered and multi-strand pieces quote the longest strand.
A. Measure a ring you already own
The most accurate way at home. You need a ring that fits the right finger and a ruler.
- Choose a ring that fits the finger you are buying for.
- Lay it flat on a ruler with the 0 mm mark touching the inside edge.
- Read across to the opposite inside edge. That figure is the inner diameter in mm.
- Find the closest diameter in the chart. The number in the first column is your Indian size.
B. Measure your finger
Use this when there is no ring to copy. You need a strip of paper or thread and a ruler.
- Cut a strip of paper about 5 mm wide, or take a thin thread.
- Wrap it around the base of the finger. Snug, not tight, and it must still slide over the knuckle.
- Mark where it overlaps, lay it flat against a ruler and read the length in mm. That is your circumference.
- Match it to the circumference column in the chart, or type it into the converter.
Choosing a length
Chains and necklaces are about where the piece falls, so measure against yourself rather than a size.
- Take a thread or soft tape and hold it around your neck where you want the piece to sit.
- Mark the point where the two ends meet and measure the thread in cm.
- Add 2 to 3 cm if you want it to fall a little lower, or if it will sit over a blouse.
- Match that figure against the table above.
Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are at their largest, and never straight after cold weather or exercise. Take the measurement twice.
